Having passed St. Catherine’s Church, we enter Józef Piłsudski Square, the centre of the new town with its Eclectic 19th century building of the Town Hall. This is a three-storey building of red brick erected on the initiative of Mayor Wiewiórowski and formally opened on December 30th, 1886. The hall remained the seat of the town administration until 1997. Currently, a part of the building is occupied by the Civil Registry, but soon (once restoration is complete) the town administration will return to the hall.
